The TA Ranch offers historic and scenic tours that you simply can't find anywhere else. Some of these excursions are:
Up the Bozeman Trail!
Within shouting distance of the TA Ranch, the "Bloody Bozeman Trail" saw the most sustained fighting between soldiers and Indians in the American West. Nearby are Forts Phil Kearny and Reno; Powder River Crossing; and the Fetterman, Wagon Box, and Crazy Woman battlefields. History comes alive as you relive the Red Cloud War of 1866-68.
"Hole-in-the-Wall"
Our favorite tour! Behind the massive Red Wall, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid would lay low while planning their next bank or train robbery. You'll also see a buffalo jump and pre-historic Indian rock art dating back 1500 years. Then hike down a steep canyon to see outlaw caves. Later, enjoy a picnic back on top of the canyon wall as eagles soar in a wind-swept blue sky.
1892 Johnson County War
Visit the KC Cabin site where Nate Champion sold his life so dearly; Tisdale and Jones ambush sites; Fort McKinney; and of course, the bullet riddled barn and ranch house at the TA , scene of the surrender of the invading cattlemen. Also included is the Jim Gatchell Museum in downtown Buffalo where many relevant artifacts are exhibited.
