Visit the Real West
The TA Ranch is an all-inclusive guest ranch and working cattle ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming, operating continuously since 1880. Stays are all-inclusive (room, all meals, and activities) and activities include daily horseback riding, horse-training demonstrations, agricultural tours, and hands-on homesteading classes.
The TA Ranch is a Smithsonian National Historic Landmark and the site of the 1892 Johnson County War. More importantly, it’s the perfect stay for guests who have a bucket-list dream of staying at a a real working cattle ranch on the Wyoming high plains.
Family-owned for generations, the TA Ranch offers an honest Western experience shaped by land, history, and time.
Our original 150-year-old buildings have been carefully restored for comfort without losing their character. Ride horseback across windswept country, explore a place tied to the Johnson County War, and slow down in a setting that hasn’t changed much since the 1800s.
Here, nights are quiet, skies are wide, and the West still feels real.
This Isn’t a Resort. It’s a Ranch.
The TA Ranch isn’t staged or manufactured. It’s a place shaped by time, work, and the land itself.
Here, days are busy, nights are dark, and the landscape does the talking.
If you’re looking for a genuine Western experience, simple, comfortable lodging with character, and space to breathe, think, and unplug, you’ll feel right at home here.
Over a Century of Wyoming History
TA Ranch has stood on this land since the late 1800s, welcoming ranch hands, travelers, and adventurers passing through the Wyoming high country.
The buildings are original. The setting is unchanged. The pace is slower — by design.
When you stay here, you’re not just visiting Wyoming.
You’re stepping into its story.

Life at the TA Guest Ranch moves at a different pace.
Days are shaped by weather, light, and the land itself. There’s no schedule to rush — just time to be outside, explore, and reconnect with something simpler.
Whether you spend your days riding, wandering, or simply sitting still, the experience is the same — real, unhurried, and deeply Western.
Its a Family Tradition.
Owned and operated by fourth generation Wyoming natives, we’re here year round and can tell you a story or two.
